RedCastle Resources recognizes that instructor-led courses in a classroom setting are the most effective training delivery method for most learners-and all of our courses can be delivered in this manner. However, we also realize that this delivery method can be prohibitively expensive to some clients. Thus, we provide almost all of our classroom courses online along with hundreds of tutorials over the Forest Service intranet.
Online Tutorials
We currently have hundreds of online tutorials covering a very wide range of geospatial topics. Most of these tutorials are designed to provide quick access to procedures (thus there is no login or registration required), although several provide overviews of technologies (e.g. lidar or remote sensing). Many of the topics have associated movies and step-by-step pdf documents.
Online Courses
These courses require students to login and register for each course through our custom Learning Management System. Courses are typically delivered in "chapters". Each chapter has an associated hands-on exercise and a quiz. We track student progress and provide access to subsequent chapters once the student passes each quiz. Current online courses include:
- Traditional (Analog) Resource Photography Use--Provides the fundamentals of understanding and using photos in the analog environment. This is a recommended, but not required, course for the online Digital Resource Photography for GIS Use course.
- Digital Resource Photography for GIS Use--Provides a basic foundation in using photos in the digital environment in order to get photo information into a GIS.
- Advanced Digital Image Processing in ArcGIS--Learn how to utilize tools and extensions to enhance and refine image classifications using ArcGIS.
- Advanced Digital Image Processing--Classification Techniques. This course focuses on advanced classification procedures used to refine and improve spectral image classifications.
- Basic Digital Image Processing--Part 1. This course focuses on the application of digital image processing concepts and techniques to a realistic project.
- Basic Digital Image Processing--Part 2. This course focuses on the application of digital image processing concepts and techniques to a realistic project.
